It used to be US 82 (not US 84) that served Midway. Then in 1989 a new bypass
was built around Waycross GA. I'm told that - as a result of the new road alignments
there - it made sense to switch the US 82 and US 84 designations east of Waycross.
So now the highway junction at I-95's interchange 76 (about 3 miles east of
Midway) marks the east end of US 84, not US 82. Photos below are from Justin
Cozart, J.P.
Nasiatka, Alex
Nitzman, Greg
Osbaldeston, and Steve
Williams; this first one was from southbound I-95:
Nasiatka, August 2002
That's since been replaced with a sign bridge:

Nov. 2006
If you were to take that exit and turn right, you'd soon see the first westbound
reassurance marker:
Nasiatka, July 2004
In the photo below, we're looking the opposite direction (east at the interchange):
Williams, 2000
As I said, that used to be the east end of US 82. As far as I can tell, prior
to the re-designation, US 82 and US 84 didn't actually intersect in Waycross.
But now the "ways" actually do "cross". Interestingly, Greg reports there was
another "End" sign ahead, on the far side of the interchange:
Osbaldeston, March 2002
Ahead is a county road serving the communities of Sunbury and Halfmoon Landing.
But Alex reports that unfortunately neither of those "End" signs exist
as of 2006.
