US 378 has been around only since 1952, and apparently its endpoints have remained
the same ever since. The west terminus is in Washington GA, at its junction
with its parent, US 78. The photo below is looking west on Robert Toombs Avenue.
The US 378 designation ends just ahead, but Toombs continues ahead on old US
78 through downtown Washington:
Dawson, Sep. 2002
Today US 78 runs across the photo (it's now routed on a bypass
known as Sam McGill Parkway). The end sign is shown close-up
below:
Dawson, Sep. 2002
That's Toombs (old US 78) ahead; McGill (new 78) is the cross
street. Below is the first eastbound US 378 sign:
Dawson, Sep. 2002
That's on Toombs, about 1/4 mile east of McGill.
The east end of US 378 is in Conway SC. There was no "End" sign,
so shown below is the last eastbound sign:
Prince, 2000
Below is the intersection where US 378 ends: on Wright Boulevard
at US 701 (4th Avenue). US 378's junction with US 501 (Church Street)
is a block behind the camera:
Prince, 2000
Not much to look at there, so below is the junction sign from US
701 northbound:
Prince, 2000
Below is the first westbound US 378 sign:
Prince, 2000
