Greetings! My name is Jason and I am a 38 year old Gay male. I have lived in Kansas City, MO my entire life, and love it here. The city is beautiful, with boulevards and fountains lining the streets. I have always enjoyed living here, but even more so now that I have come out of the proverbial closet. It was back in the Autumn of 1996. On my birthday, October 29th,I decided enough was enough! I wanted to be myself, and find a way to get OUT and meet others like myself. Could it be that there actually were other gay males living in Kansas City like me?

Glad I took the step and saw a counselor, who gave me a list of places to check out and learn about the gay culture in Kansas City. PFLAG in Kansas City (Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) and MCC (Metropolitan Community Church) were at the top of his list. Both of these organizations really helped me come out and be proud of who I was, and who I wanted to be for the rest of my life. PFLAG has so many wonderful parents and friends of the gay community, reaching out and loving me and the other homosexual men and women attending. I knew then there wasn't anything wrong with me, but a lot wrong with society! What a super group of people coming together to embrace the gay community.

Oh, and I can never forget my Metropolitan Community Church experience...I am not a religious person by any means. So much love and respect given to me by the members and clergy there. This international gay community church welcomed me, as they do many others, with open arms. Appreciate their kindness, and I will never forget all MCC did for me as a gay male.

And where is Jason today? I have been single for a while now. Just living life to the fullest trying to meet Mr. Right.
