Anyone who served as crew, passenger, or soldier who was transported aboard the U.S.S. General Mark L. Hersey, AP-148, is welcome to attend our reunions including family and friends. The U.S.S. Hersey's history includes members of the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Marines, the U.S. Army and displaced persons from Europe also known as the Cargo of Hope.. |

We are going to Fredericksburg, Texas for the final U.S.S. General Mark L. Hersey, AP-148, reunion. The reunion will be held 11, 12, 13 October 2008 departing on the morning of the 14th. The reunion will be held at the LaQuinta Inn and Suites in Fredericksburg. It was decided by the group attending the October 2007 reunion that the 2008 reunion will be the last. We realize that the number of World War II shipmates is decreasing and that some are just unable to attend the reunions. Also, we have tried to contact Korean War veterans and Cargo of Hope passengers with limited success. If anyone reading this has any ideas how to contact more of the Korean War veterans who were on the U.S.S. Hersey or Cargo of Hope passengers from Europe, please send the information to usshersey@yahoo.com.
The final reunion will include the placing of a plaque commemorating the U.S.S. General Mark L. Hersey, AP-148. It will be dedicated at the Memorial Wall at the National Museum of the Pacific War in Fredericksburg at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, 13 October 2008. We hope many of you will be able to attend.
