| Name: EMH Mark V Species: Class 9 Holographic Projection Rank: None Postion: Emergency Medical Holographic Program History: The Emergency Medical Hologram (EMH) project was started in 2367 by Doctor Lewis Zimmerman to provide additional medical support during times of emergency or when the medical staff aboard ship were unavailable. A very personal project for Doctor Zimmermann, he used his own physical characteristics to create the original EMH Mark I matrix. The first operational EMH matrix came on-line in late 2369 and the completed EMH Mark I came on-line in early 2371. The new development was commissioned to be installed aboard the latest vessels and at remote outposts. These included vessels of the Intrepid, Nova and Sovereign classes, with older vessels being retrofitted when and where possible. In 2373 almost all the EMH Mark I's were taken out of service and reassigned, because of 'flaws' in the EMH's matrix. Of the 676 EMH Mark I's, all but two were reassigned to perform menial tasks. The two missing EMH Mark I's were installed aboard the vessels USS Voyager and USS Equinox. Both these vessels were 'lost' in the Delta quadrant and the Equinox was destroyed in 2374. The failure of the Mark I EMH and their subsequent reassignment to serve aboard waste transfer barges upset Zimmermann deeply and rather than modify the existing EMH matrix, he started from scratch with a new matrix. This led to the EMH Mark II matrix and through further development of this matrix into the current EMH Mark IV matrix installed throughout the Federation fleet. Voyager's Mark I EMH was transported back to the Alpha quadrant in 2375 when the first regular contact was established. The Voyager EMH had requested to be transported back to the Alpha quadrant in an attempt to cure his dying creator. It was through the interaction between Doctor Zimmermann and the EMH, with a little help from Counselor Deanna Troi and Lieutenant Reginald Barclay that Doctor Zimmerman realised that the Mark I wasn't a total failure. The EMH Mark V which is installed aboard the USS Odyssey is the latest version of the EMH project and is based directly around the EMH Mark I matrix from USS Voyager. The EMH Mark V has a number of enhancements including the doubling of database storage within the matrix and the introduction of non-essential personality sub-routines. The most important improvement to the EMH Mark V however is the fact that the whole system is a self-contained unit, including an independent back-up power supply. This means that even if the main computer system is taken off-line, the EMH program can continue to operate.Finally, the EMH is not confined to the Odyssey's sickbay and holodecks as holoemitters are installed in key areas of the vessel, including the main and secondary Bridges, Engineering and all transporter rooms. He previously served under Captain Duende on both the USS Justice and the USS Republic. He enjoys spending time on the holodeck where he enjoys playing racquetball, a habit he picked up at the Academy. He was roommates with Skorr at the academy. He also has a odd interest in Vulcan humor, which he insists exists. He studied on the Bynar homeworld in a cultural exchange program before joining the academy. Previously a Civilian Engineer working at the Daystrom Institute, Los is sure to be a valued officer in both the Shuttlebay and Engineering. | Name: Tena Lelara Species: Bajoran Female Rank: Ensign Postion: Materials Officer, Operation's Division History: Lelara grew up during the Cardassian occupation of Bajor and later fought them as a member of the resistance. Following their withdrawal she was one of the few people that welcomed the Federation without hesitation, believing them to be vital to Bajor's survival. She was previously a Lieutenant (JG) in the Bajoran Militia. Three years after the Federation took over joint operation of Deep Space Nine, Lelara applied to join Starfleet Academy and was pleased to receive a sponsorship as a non Federation member. During her Senior semester, however, she failed two of her final exams and was forced to repeat her senior semester the next year. The Odyssey-B is her first non-training assignment. She sometimes reacts badly to criticism, and she strives to impress her commanders. Their father and mother are both Starfleet officers stationed on Starbase 74, near Tarsas III, a federation resource world. Topper is the more serious and reserved of the two brothers. She spent her first 18 years on Cait, and is fond of Caitians in general. Much of her outlook on life is colored by her upbringing in a decidedly different culture than her own. Mellisa had an aptitude for learning languages, and speaks over 40 different alien laungages, including Vulcan, Deltan, Bajoran, Romulan, Klingon, Elaysian, Selayissssh, Andorian, Betazoid, Thallonian, Danteri, Ferengi, Betelgeusean and Caitian of course. | Name: Annah Kerinko Species: Female Human Rank: Ensign Position: Morale Officer, Command Division History: Annah was born on the USS Orion, where her parents were scientists for the Federation. Her parents always called her the daughter of the stars, since she was always cheering up the crew even when she was young. She decided to join Starfleet, and found her notch in life helping people. Gaining favor with many of the Admiral's and senior staff at the Academy, she was offered the position of an Morale Officer at the Academy. After finishing her years at the academy, she was giving her current position aboard the Odyssey. Annah loves music, she can be found listening to it and singing along in her quarters as well as her office. | Name: Shal Ransol Species: Female Human Rank: Lieutenant Position: Astrometrics Officer, Science Division History: Shal grew up on Federation starships. Her father was a science officer, her mother was killed shortly after her birth in an away team mission. Due to her fathers job she began to excel at the sciences and soon even developed her own interests in it. As soon as she was able she joined Starfleet Academy and graduated one of the top students in her class. Shal's first assignment was to the Uss Agammenon. After only having been aboard for a couple of months the ship was damaged beyond repair in the push to Cardassia Prime. She then served aboard the USS Newton, an Oberth class ship. At 49 years old he figures he's seen enough, though nothing could make him retire. he loves his job too much. He'd have advanced father in Starfleet already, if it wasn't for his somewhat... blunt nature. He doesn't tolerate any nonsense from the crewmen he trains and supervises. His previous commander once said that trying to argue with him was not unlike trying to convince a raging Kobariol Boar not to rip out your guts once it smelled you. You just can't win. It's best not to upset him. He transfered from the USS Prague to the USS Odyssey after a disagreement with the aforementioned Commander. before he served on the Prague, he trained cadets at the academy, but after 10 years, he grew tired of baby sitting cadets and longed for the vast regions of space once again. | Name: Gor Species: Gorn Male Rank: Lt. Junior Grade Postion: Assistant Gunner's Mate, Security Division History: The Name Gor has a sort of religous meaning on the Gorn Homeworld. Only eggs hatched on the first day of the year, within the first 30 kricks (approx. 15 seconds) may be given it. Only 1 in every 12,000,000 Male Gorn aare given this blessing by thier gods, said to have given life to the swamp most Gorn are born in. Gor is one of the few male Gorn serving in Starfleet. While it is not a widely known fact, many Gorn that hold postions in the Federation are of the Female Gender. Gor has very high expectations to live up to, and he sometimes takes it out on those under his command. He has served in Starfleet for 12 years, many of those aboard the USS Nola'ta. | Name: Tre'la Shar'ven Species: Andorian Female Rank: Lt. Postion: Assistant Chief Of Security History: Tre'la is businesslike in all things, and is rarely seen socializing with her crewmates. She has been cited two times for disruptive behavior, and is not well suited to the art of dipomacy, though she has made some progress in controlling her temper. She's served on board the USS Galaxy for the past 6 years, earning several distinctions and medals during the Dominion War. On several occassions she fought the Jem'hadar in ground combat, and earned the respect of her peers by never losing one of the people under her command in those situations. Her previous Captain once remarked that Lt. Shar'ven will make someone a fine Chief of Security one day, if she can learn to control her temper. She has three mates, two males and a female, and left Starfleet for one year in 2378 to return home to conceive a child.
