October 5, 2005 Slight revision to main page. I now offer visitors the opportunity to purchase old maps and photos of ghost towns. E-mail me with questions. In the "Southern" section the town of Old Iron Town has been updated with a bit of new information and some scans are available of a brochure printed for the Iron Mission State Park. It's worth looking at. February 28, 2005 Minor update. Removed some bad links in the reference section. January 19,2004 Visited Ophir on October 22, 2003. Many changes since my last visit. A group of older buildings/dwelling that were once covered by trees, weeds and other growth (which added to the charm of the structures and made for more interesting pictures) have been cleaned up. One can now walk on a stone/concrete path and view the buildings. It looks like some sort of restoration effort. There are many new houses in Ophir which detract from the town. They look out of place and it's sad that modern looking buildings are intruding on the town site. The city should have enacted some sort of zoning law requiring all new buildings and houses to look like late 19th and early 20th century contempary structures. Too bad for Ophir but it's still worth visiting. I attempted to go to Manning, Utah but it's still closed off for some sort of clean up effort. May 10, 2003 Mini-Update!
