Part 4

Ino emitted a soft whimper as Yoshiki drew his lips away. A tingling feeling lingered on Ino’s lips and he shyly looked up at the other man. The soft golden waves of his hair glinted in the sun and when Ino dared to lift his hand up to touch the cascading locks falling over Yoshiki’s shoulders, he marveled at their fineness. Never in his life had he encountered someone as enticing in beauty nor as charming in elegance as this beautiful man before him.

" I…" Once again, cold fingers grazed over the skin of his face, just below his lips, to halt his words.

Yoshiki traced his finger along Ino’s pale neck, though his paleness barely contested the whiteness of his own complexion. He could feel the pulse beneath the thin skin and it tempted him to taste the blood flowing through the vein. It was not hunger; just mere temptation, for Yoshiki did not have the nightly crave or hunger for blood any longer and he could live for years without feeding. But this human in front of him, so innocent and full of love for J, his mysterious lover, and now for him, was indeed, very tempting.

Curtains of dark red velvet shielded the room away from the daylight. As the day grew old, the grey skies drowned the rays of the sun and the night called to J. Shifting slightly, awakening from his death sleep, J’s eyes fluttered open.

" Hn…" The room was warm; he had fallen to slumber while the fireplace was still alight. The flames have died but pieces of coal dimly glowed.

He pulled his cloak over his shoulders as he stood up. His hair fell in straggly strands around his face which he pushed back carelessly with one hand. He was not one of those vain vampires that dressed in brushed velvet and appreciated things like paintings and statues. So he came from the same era as Sugizo but they both had totally different backgrounds. Sugizo was the youngest son of a merchant but he had lived his mortal life on the streets before he met his maker.

He went into the night. Along the cobble-stoned pavement by the river, he watched the stars that hung in seeming idleness in the canvas of blue and black. Behind him, he caught the sound of heels tapping against the stone and a scent of sweet perfume mixed with the mild waft of liquor enveloped his sense of smell. A young woman leaving a ball after a few champagnes alone? Not very likely…but J had little care of the background of his suppers.

She was a pretty one, and she smiled at him as he approached her.

" Good evening…" he smiled back as he caught her wrist and pulled her into one hidden alley.

Once again, her perfume filled him as he buried his face in her neck. She moaned as he kissed the tender flesh. He let his teeth graze over a vein before he sank his fangs in. She gasped out a startled exclamation of pain. J felt the blood rush into his mouth, flickers of her thoughts and life ran through him, and he swooned even as the rush of blood slowed down to a trickle.

She fell limp against the dirty wall and dropped to the ground like a lifeless rag when he released her. He cut his finger and let his blood heal the puncture wounds on her neck. He placed her flat on the ground and crossed her arms over her chest as if she was in a church funeral.

" Good night," he whispered softly into the night breeze.

He was what he was.

A blood drinker.

‘ J, I love you.’

But you are a mere human, Ino…

J felt a shiver course through his body as he recalled the pleasure of that night.

Ah, but I love him too. For he is beautiful inside and outside.

J decided to pay a visit to Sugizo’s mansion. Easily he opened the window to Ino’s room, quite surprised that it was locked though. The room was empty but the rose was still there, in a vase. But as he took a few steps into the room, he saw that it was a different rose. This one came from Sugizo’s garden. The hairs on his neck tensed as he felt the presence of another in the room.

" He’s not here, J, if you’re looking for him." Sugizo stood leaning against the door. He was wrapped in a thin robe of crimson silk and J could smell the strong scent of sex on him. No doubt it was laced with the scent of Ryu.

J did not speak.

Sugi paced across the room and sat down on the bed. " I assumed he has gone to search for his lover who left him after the first night of love-making…but I see he failed. What could have happened? Ah, hard to say…after all, he’s just a weak mortal…" Sugizo chuckled before he turned his face to J, a hard edge to his eyes. " Mortals die too easily."

J let out an involuntary growl as he realized Sugizo was making fun of him. " I do not love him. I won’t commit the same mistake that you made and probably will make again."

" What is so wrong about loving a mortal?"

J looked at Sugizo as if he was retarded.

" It is the fear of losing. That…that Yoshiki taught me very well." A bitter look of pain crossed Sugizo’s features as he spoke. He could never forgive Yoshiki for that. " But do you want to live an eternal life in fear of loving someone?"

" Love…love is all there is for you, you and your romantic principles," J sighed.

" Yes," the other vampire said, his fine brows drawn together thoughtfully. " I make love my excuse for everything I do when I can’t find another excuse."

J nodded absently. A gush of cold air came in, causing the windows to bang close.

" I loved Ryu…before he died in your hands. I love him still. I believe love can keep us sane through our cursed period of time on earth and maybe love can keep the gates of heaven opened to sinful beings like us…" Sugi got up and stood close to his vampire brother. " I feel love for you too, J…" he whispered as he kissed the taller man on the lips. He pulled back. " But at the same time, I hate you too."

" You are spouting rubbish."

" Maybe I am," Sugi shrugged.

J clutched the handle of the window in his hand.

" You can use the door."

" I’m used to this exit way."

" Are you going to look for Ino?"

J paused. " Why should I?"

" Well, he could be in danger. And he’s out there looking for you."

" He won’t find me."

Sugi held J’s hand, surprising him. " Will you run away from his love?"

" Sugizo…you know that is not the reason…"

Sugizo looked puzzled. Then it struck him. " It is because of Yoshiki?"

J slipped his hand out of Sugizo’s grasp. Wordlessly, he let himself fall into the darkness, the wind in his face. Sugizo watched as J landed on the ground and disappeared into the shadows.

Sugizo returned to the room to find his mortal lover lying sideways with his back to him. The material of his nightclothes did nothing to hide the subtle curves of his young male body.

Fifty years had been too long…but the Gods have been kind for letting me find you again…

Ryu flinched in surprise as a pair of arms embraced him from behind.

" What are you doing, dear?" he asked as he caught the sight of his diary in Ryu’s hands. Quickly he snatched it away. " Don’t you know it’s rude to read people’s diary?"

Ryu pouted and sat up on the bed. " I can’t read it anyway."

Sugizo placed the diary back to its original place in the drawer, this time, remembering to lock it. " Why aren’t you asleep?" He placed a light kiss on Ryu’s forehead.

" The nightmares woke me up…"

" What nightmares?"

Ryu shrugged. " Keep me company tonight." He raised himself up on his knees and kissed his master. They fell onto the soft feather-filled bed. Gently Ryu thrust his tongue into Sugizo’s mouth as his fingers found the knot of the sash that tied Sugi’s robe together.

Sugizo felt his sash loosen. " Ryu…" He changed their positions so that Ryu lay beneath him, his top slipping to reveal a smooth shoulder. Sugi bent down to taste the bare flesh. The scent of Ryu enveloped him and it was so hard to control himself from wanting to taste his blood that it was painful. He showered light kisses along his clavicle then up his neck, before nuzzling the area that joined Ryu’s neck to his right shoulder.

" Master, take from me what you want…" Ryu said, stroking the back of Sugizo’s head.

" I can’t…"

" Why? I love you!" Ryu was exasperated.

" I’m scared that…if I start, I can’t stop…" Sugi sighed, nipping gently at Ryu’s flesh without breaking it.

" I want you to…" Ryu plead. " Please…"

Blood lust took hold of Sugizo and he lapped at the spot before he bit into it. Ryu tensed up at that point but soon relaxed as Sugizo drank from him. " Yes."

‘ Just a bit’…Sugizo told himself but he couldn’t pull away. Ryu’s blood was sweet to his senses and he wanted more. He felt the sweet nectar feel his own veins, giving his own flesh a flushed shade. Then he felt Ryu’s nails digging into his shoulder blades and he pulled away abruptly.

Ryu gazed at him through half-lidded eyes. The wound on the side of his neck still bled, and the blood trickled down to stain the sheets crimson red. There was some of his blood smudged on the vampire’s lips too. Sugi bent down and kissed Ryuichi. " I’m sorry…" He pierced his own tongue with his sharp fang and let his own blood drip over the wound he had inflicted upon the mortal.

Ryu felt drowsy from the loss of blood.

" Sleep," Sugi instructed.

" Stay with me…" Ryu refused to let go of his master.

" My death sleep is calling…"

" You can sleep here…surely no sun can penetrate these walls." Ryu wrapped his arms around Sugi protectively. " I never want to part from you."

" Me neither…" Sugi whispered and slowly entered sleep as the sun rose outside.
