I Am Woman During my venture through the woods, I was hunted by silent preditors. I knew they were there; I could hear them, but continued on as if I was oblivious to their presence. I trail blazed my way through the thick forest that I made to be my life, until the creatures dared to flash their presence as they darted around me in the moonlight. it was then that I saw that these were no beasts, but hunters of the night; vampires. One dashed up and stood before me, poised to attack but remained motionless. Then I heard one behind me and saw another right behind me. Emotionlessly, I looked at them and they grabbed my arms and marched me off miles into the deep forest. As we continued on, we found more of their kind and joined in the hike to their lair. It was a long time before we came upon it. I lookes to see a carved cave in a massive hunk of bedrock, jutting from the leafy forest floor, and leveled out on the top, where many more vampires stood and sat, conversing. As we approached closer, they grew silent and staired at the procession. The mosses here told me that the cave enterance never had sunlight touch it, a plus for the vampires, but I doubted that the cave was big enough for all the ones I saw there. I can't say for certain, but there had to be at most 100, at least 50. Into the cave my captures and I went. It was surprisingly well lit, just enough to make out faces. There, on the far side was a grand figure, tall and regal, gorgeous scapula long hair,a London cape covering his arms from view. In a beautiful resonating, musical voice he said as he walked up to me and looked down, "are you afraid?" "No." I said, overwhelmed by his wonder. I would have said more; more than I should, but I refrained. "You should be. For we are going to kill you." "Go ahead. No one will care." "you will care." "All but two religions and myself actually believe in non existence after this life." "And what of vampirism?" "We have similar ideas, from what I have read." "Is that so." He was so close, so ancient, so undead; I could not help but lay my head on his chest, close my eyes, and inhail the smell of his musty clothes and the carnage they saw. I reached up and felt the fabric lain on top his chest with one hand. With the other, I wrapped it around to press myself to him. " 'the relentless Price of pain, renouncing god of his throne'…" "For true love shall avenge." "The blood is the life and Christ I defy." "I avenge with darkness." He closed his eyes as our minds intermingled deeper. My hands glided to his hands and I locked our fingers together, my pulse resonating between the knuckles, however my hands as cold as his. "What are you doing to me?" he exclaimed in a whisper. I said nothing and guided him to his knees. Right then and there was nothing on our minds but each other. The world, the onlooking vampire, didn't matter. Blind by sight, my mind saw what needed to be seen; deaf to the world, I heard what needed to be heard. I drew myself up to touch his lips with mine, which opened slightly and were very cold in comparison to my own flushed red ones. He drew quick, panicing breaths, having lost all control of his body to me. As my lips glided along his face, I released the grip my hands had and embraced him closely. His arms were limp at his sides, knowing what to do with them as his body trembled in fright, however obeying my whims. After a lusty breath, I realeased him and sat to recover my wits. He was free from my mind, I not gotten what I wanted from him. The family master withdrew from me quickly and fell backwards onto his rear. "Wh…what are you?!" he demanded. I looked at him, throught the upper rim of my glasses, further shaded by my bangs, adding to the affect of power. "What did you do to me?!" he demanded opnce again. "who are you?" "I am your worse nightmare. I am everyone's worst nightmare." It was then I showed my hidden feelings of lonliness. I looked down and let out a heavy sigh. A long moment passed and the vampire master loosened his self defenses a knotch, leaning closer from his seat on th floor. "You wish not to be?" he paused. "You're lonely…" "I am." "Believe me when I tell you I know what you must feel. That is why you see all who are here." I remembered all the faces looking at me, their continuing stare buring its way to my soul. He continued, "I made myself company." As he crawled closer. "Can you not do the same?" With a heavy sigh I began, "People don't let me get close enough," "No powers of persuasion?" "I'd rather they do it out of free will. And I have no powers to speak of, either." "Now that is impossible. What you did before…taking part of me…" "Is why I think the world hates me; because I do that. because I must to feel alive." "A type of vampirism?" "Perhaps. No one has actually defined what it is I do." "One never knows in this day and age with new breeds speedily arising…" "Are they." I said doubtfully. It was then he arose and came to sit near. He caressed my cheek with a hand and looked at me thoughtfully. "I might not have appreciated what you did before, but I can tell you that I feel more in tune with another plane of existence because of what you did. Peaceful and calm, nonchalant." "I wouldn't call it that." "perhaps not, but it's true. Come," he says as he stands, his hand outstretched for her to take. I looked up at him and his offering, but sat there a ong time to think about it; surprisingly he waited for me. I reached up and took his hand. "You creatures of the night are so poetic and graceful and well mannered. You're what I wish the human race was like." "thank you," |
