Why you are supposed to wear gear
This is a sensitive subject with most people, and more scary is the fact that people say they wear their gear, and yet, do not when it gets really hot outside. Good motorcycle gear includes purpose made riding boots, leather pants (Not chaps, they do not protect you ass-ets), jacket, (Either goretex or leather) proper gloves, and a helmet. Or, if you ride sportbikes, you might buy a one piece suit.

So let's say you are out riding, and you come to an intersection. You didn't notice the left turning SUV tank until too late. In a panic, you grab all the front brake you have available. You either a: own a sportbike, and by mashing the powerful brakes, loop yourself and the bike, or b: own a cruiser or other heavy motorcycle, mash the brake, and lock up the front tire, causing the bike to fall from underneath you. End result?

Well...were you wearing gear when it's hotter than the hobs of hell? If you were, your helmet might look like
this or this. Or, if you wore a one piece race suit, it might look like this. Doesn't look too bad, does it?

Great. So you were smart enough to wear proper gear. All you need to do now is buy some new gear, and fix the bike. May cost a couple of bucks, but hey, at least you're okay.

So what if you didn't wear proper gear? You think you might look like this guy, that's in obvious
pain? Or how about this guy? Obviously these guys weren't wearing the right gear. Shorts, tank top, and maybe even flip flops. Well, at least they were wearing a helmet. But check these pictures out: 1, 2, 3, 4. You think he will make the same mistake again? I highly doubt it.

Here is a picture that clearly illustrates why gear is a good idea. Look closely, and you will notice the subtle differences:
So after seeing all of this, do have any more questions? Do you want to have a layer of your skin smeared all over your favorite road? Or are you going to spend a couple of dollars, and get proper riding gear? Just remember too, just because these guys made it through their crash alive, it doesn't mean you will. Hate to be the one to break it to you, but that's a fact. Get your gear, and you have a better chance of living to tell the tale to your buddies.
