Miss Little Princess has Her Birthday on the 14th. December. Since on that day we happened to be in Gozo, we decided to throw a little party for her. Here`s what happened:

Nicole woke up to find her bed covered in balloons together with a huge brightly wrapped thingy, a smaller one and a bright yellow envelope.

"Mammina!!" she screamed, "what`s happening?? What is all this stuff doing here?"

I was still in Dreamland, Jurgen as well, and we woke up with a fright thinking that she had fallen off from her bed. We raced to her room, finding her sitting in her bed with her "black mood look" (which translates to dark frowning face, hanging lower lip, a terribly negative attitude which does not allow any of us to merely glance at Her Royal Highness much less talk to her:  "tharissx lejja", "ghalfejn qed tidhaq?!", "itlaq l'hemm ghidtlek!"...)

"Happy Birthday sweetie, look at the pretty balloons, and look presents!"

"Come on Nicole, you even have a birthday card, open them!"

Nicole was unsure of herself, she eyed the larger package suspiciously, and decided to take the safer option. She opened the card first. Next came the small present which was a cute red furry Minnie Mouse scarf, which Kevin and Amanda had given her. There still remained one problem though, that big thing! Was it a big monster ready to pounce on any little girl that he sets eyes on? The thought was enough to scare anyone, Nicole included. We edged her on, so that she opens her present, but she was hesitant. We reassured her that if it did contain a monster, we were right next to her, and that he was powerless next to us. So, Nicole gingerly started to tear off the wrapping paper. She started from what appeared to be the muzzle of a creature, and by jove it was! A yellow muzzle with a pink nose. Curiosity soon got the better of her, and Nicole tore a larger bit.

"It-Tigra!!!"

It was Tigger, the blessed soft toy that she had been hankering for so long about. Soon enough the wrapping paper was off, and Tigger was in Nicole's arms, only a plastic bag separating them from each other. I removed the bag, Nic played with Tigger while Jurgen fetched the camera.

As we descended for breakfast, Nicole found another surpise, lots and lots of balloons!

We all need a tiger, no?

After breakfast, we went to Lunzjata Valley, limits of Munxar. This valley is unique as it is the only valley that remains verdant even in the dog days of August, so finding it all green deep in December was no surprise.

After our outing, we went back to the farmhouse to have a rest, do dinner and then...PARTY!

The decorations were put up...

...the party hats distributed...

...the cake brought out and lit...

...the guests of honour were brought forward, and the serious business of blowing the candles commenced.

...rivers of wine flowed and were dutifully consumed...

...while someone tried to snog the guest of honour...

...and the rest were fooling around with some nuts...

...the spirit got the better of us, and soon it was time for sleepies!
