Comes the morning
A moment of panic as Chakotay opened his eyes, heavy from the dream of tangled sheets, heaving bodies, soft cries of release. They had been part of him forever - still-born endearments that never found a voice, a home.
"Will you look at me...eventually?" Kathryn asks, her voice full of the promise of morning.
"I thought I dreamed."
"I am your dream..."
"Touch me again, then. I cannot believe this..."
"Believe," she says, caressing his cheek. "You're part of me now."
"I thought it could never be, Kathryn."
"Let me assure you."
"How?"
"A question."
"Ask, then."
"Marry me."
