Hi, my name's Ben Daswani. Throughout 2004 and 2005 I will be organizing four tournaments in Vancouver and together they form the Vancouver Seasonal Grand Prix.
Events
NB: All events will be rated by the Chess Federation of Canada.
First: 40% of prize fund.
After three events, the GP prize fund is $170. The projected prizes are approximately:
First: $91.
As well, our sponsor, Chess First! Enterprises, has kindly donated the following prizes:
First: A ChessBase playing engine: Fritz 7.
NB: In the case of a tie for a cash prize, the prize will be split among the tied players. In the case of a tie for a prize from Chess First! Enterprises, a tie-break formula will be used.

Fall Open - November 6 and 7, 2004.

Location: Vancouver Bridge Centre - 2776 E. Broadway @ Kaslo.
Registration: 9:30 to 10:00am on Saturday.
Rounds: Four.
Round Times: 10:00am and 3:00pm on Saturday; 10:00 and ASAP on Sunday.
Time Controls: 30 moves in 90 minutes, game in 60 minutes.
Format: Swiss pairings. Accelerated Swiss if necessary.
Entry Fee: $30. $20 for juniors, seniors and masters.
Prizes: All entry fees minus expenses (which includes 20% to go towards Grand Prix prize fund).
Byes: Maximum of two half-point byes (no byes in fourth round).

From each of the four Vancouver Seasonal Events, 20% from each entry fee will be taken and put into the Vancouver Seasonal Grand Prix prize fund. After the events have taken place, prizes will be given out using the following prize fund:
Second: 20% of prize fund.
Top U2200: 10% of prize fund.
Top U2000: 10% of prize fund.
Top U1800: 10% of prize fund.
Top U1600: 10% of prize fund.
Second: $45.
Top U2200: $23.
Top U2000: $23.
Top U1800: $23.
Top U1600: $23.
Second: A ChessBase training CD: School of Elementary Tactics.
Top Junior: A plastic chess set.
