The Crucifixion
His silence spoke
great volumes
When they asked
"Are you the king?"
He said to His
accusers
Not a single
thing
Then Pilate asked
the people
"Now what shall I
do?"
They shouted
Crucify, crucify!
Let us drag Him
through
They mocked, spit
and hit
Said you're
nothing but a lie
And pricked His
head with thorns
As they punched
and dragged Him by
The battered body
of our Lord
Fell beneath the
cross's weight
So they ordered a
man name Simon
To help Him stand
up straight
When they reached
Golgotha
They took and set
the nail
In our Savior's
hands and feet
That's where the
hammer fell
The soldiers
placed a sign
This is Jesus,
King of all the Jews
They asked to
have it taken down
Because they said
it wasn't true
With the
swiftness of the sword
They opened half
His side
The lamb's blood
turned cold
Before His tears
had dried
He hung upon the
cross
In agony and
pain
To bear the sins
of others
And to shoulder
all our shame
Then with His
last breath
He cried and
spoke out loud
Oh Father God
it's finished
Then died with
His head bowed
But rose again in
glory
Just like the
scripture told
About the Holy
Spirit
That death could
never hold
