Anderson, Rebecca: Died shortly after the April 19, 1995 truck bombing of the Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma/USA. Immediately after hearing the blast, Rebecca, 37, rushed to the chaotic scene from home. During voluntary efforts of applying her LPN skills to survivors, she was struck by debris from the ravaged building. One of the photos on the right shows her later collapsing into the arms of another rescue worker. She was officially counted as one of the 168 victims of the bombing. Even through death, Rebecca continued coming to the aid of others as an organ donor. She was survived by her husband and four children. Speleers, Linda. Died January 8,2003 in Olympia, Washington/USA. Linda was just a few blocks from her home on her way to work at an orthopedic clinic when she spotted an overturned truck. As she attempted to cross the highway to provide nursing assistance, she was struck by two vehicles on the foggy and ice slick roadway and died at the scene. Her brother-in-law noted that this was not the first time that Linda attempted to aid accident victims. She had been a nurse for over 25 years and was well thought of by her colleagues. She is survived by her husband and five children. [Ent.: 1/03] [ Ref: http://www.theolympian.com/home/news/20030109/frontpage/4527.shtml] |
