Penner (Whitherall), Bonnie. Died November 21,2002 in Sidon, Lebanon. According to initial media reports, Bonnie was viciously executed by an unknown gunman shortly after she opened a missionary clinic where she volunteered as a nurse for about the past two years. It is speculated that the assault is part of an resurging anti-American sentiment related to the Palestinian/Israeli conflict that exists in this part of the world. Bonnie was a native of Vancouver, Washington/USA and had also lived in California/USA. The director of the center noted that "Bonnie died because she loved the people of Sidon". Bonnie is survived by her husband, G. Whitherall, a British citizen; parents; and sister. [Ent. Nov.,2002] (Source: http://www.newsdirectory.com/go/?f=&r=wa&u=www.columbian.com )
