FML Alexander Ritter Metz von Spondalunga was born in Budweis, Bohemia, on 11 May 1861. He reached the rank of Feldmarschalleutnant and led the 11. infantry division as part of the Ost Armee under GdI Alfred Krauss until the armstice in November 1918.
