One of my favorite TV shows of all time was V. It was the quintessential shock me sci-fi that made me freaked me out for weeks after it aired. I didn’t know that they stole many ideas from the War of the Worlds. |

Planet of the Apes. Three great Heston lines from the movie: *Get your paws off of me, you damned dirty ape. *It's a mad house! *(At the end, seeing the Statue of Liberty buried in sand.) You maniacs. You blew it all up! Damn you! DAMN YOU ALL TO HELL! |
Total Recall "GET YOUR ASS TO MARS!" |
This that blew my mind from the movie: *The flesh eating dolls. (I had nightmares about that for weeks.) *The fur interior space ship. *The lava lamp special effects. *The empty bodied Black Guards. *The volcanic goup surrounding the city Sogo, called the Mathmos *The bed in the shape of a person on the floor lined in fur. *Barbarella's many costume changes. (It gives any Diana Ross special a run for its money!) *Duran Duran's Machine designed for pleasurable torture. *Duran Duran's positronic ray. *The essence of man; the tank with the man inside being smoked by the ladies of the court. *Pygar: last of the ornithothropes. *The invisible key to the invisible door to the Great Tyrant's secret chamber of dreams! *The hand sex with a pill! (I still can't get over that!) |
Sciene Fiction Movies and TV shows of my youth are so low tech these days that I often mutter when I say, "Hey, I really liked the movie, The Last Star Fighter." With movies like the Matrix and The Lord of the Rings to compete with, old sci-fi movies are just being brushed under the carpet of time. However, the raw creativity that sprung from those classics, is what the creators of todays movies and television shows draw their inspiration from.
