re: Who is Christophe Chesaux?

I don't know Christophe (I believe it's Cheseaux) very well but I've been impressed the times we have met. He has offered to help younger riders and I believe he also rides as a Nat'l team tandem pilot.

If he is allowed to ride as Team Canada it's positive. His positive attitude and racing style would only benefit us as well as his efforts to give back to cycling.

If by racing in the jersey he gets start money (wouldn't be CCA's)that's great. It helps him but also gives us some international presence in cross. So what if he is a lap down, maybe that will motivate some of our younger riders to say that they can do better and go out and do so.

I am interested to see if he is doing World's. I am completely in favour of more riders going to World's but after last year's decision it would be hard for the CCA to justify his permission to participate.

I am replying because my name was used in the original post. I don't care that I didn't receive any CCA support for Poprad. (I didn't receive any CCA support for the other years but definitely benefitted from the support K. Westwood, B. Hurley, P. Wedge, and R. Asseer had arranged) If Christophe is receiving CCA support, which I doubt, that would be even better. If people train all year for $5 primes think of what we could turn out for $500 to attend World's. What I am interested in is having Canadians at World's. If people don't like who is over there trying, then get on your bikes, prove you're better and go yourselves. Healthy competition will only make us better. Sending a team (even if pay your own way) would hopefully motivate those who go, and those left behind, to double their efforts the following year.

It's great having L. Bessette and Cyclo Bros. Productions bringing media attention to cross in Quebec which traditionally isn't into cross. Hopefully we will continue to see the benefits of their influence.

I can't wait for the Women's World's this year. We will do very well with who I know we are sending. (I am not saying who as names posted here get very quickly dragged through all sorts of things) Best of Luck to you though!!!!!!

Allez Christophe!!

Westerner - Thanks for the recognition (that I bought water :-) ) but as you said you don't know Christophe so don't slag him. If he is getting money it doesn't affect me nor would I begrudge him or the CCA for it. Quite the opposite.

Happy New Year!
