These 2 poems were inspired by the movie "Girl"
He shrugs off reality
like its a jacket
he hits the concrete
like an elemental racket
he's stoned up
doped out
crashed and killed
he knows he's nothing

He's the truest lie
you'll ever hear
its his eyes
you long to be near
so you take his promises
and store them up
your heart is filled
with the falsehoods he spills

You want to be swept up into his world
to live on his island of dreams
and forget about how life always seems
its the nonsensical feel which encaptures you most
his words sending you
coast to coast
you could lay in his eyes
and drown in his tears
knocked down shivering spears

He's the truest lie
you'll ever hear
its his eyes
you long to be near
so you take his promises
and store them up
your heart is filled
with the falsehoods he spills

He's a disconnection junkie
a drug-induced party
he's the universe of ritalin
drowning his sorrows in another bottle of gin
love him as you will
he's destined to leave you lonely still.
The words of others just echo in her ears
never really meaning anything
words lost on deaf ears
of an orphan
who had parents
even siblings
she walked the world alone
she endured the pain of ten men
her bravery only a speck to her
for she will never know how
beautiful she is
tie her down
beat her through
she screams for help
and oh my god
they all say goodbye
the closets of her youth
and cupboards of her memory
she knows what cruelty is
and so continues on her days
with the delicacy and grace
of a childhood goddess.
