This is a difficult one to answer, as everyone has a different perspective. Personally, I would say that if you are just starting off, go with a pump (a PGP for example). The reason being that you (not being able to fire fast) will learn the value of movement and accuracy. Trust me, there is no better feeling than taking out somebody with a pump. But, if you are playing with mostly semi-autos, then a pump can be a real dis-advantage, especially for the un-experianced player. If this is your case, I would say, go with a "low end" semi-auto. I say "low end" because they are relatively cheap, but they are not low end. They can compete easily with "high end" guns...after all...its the player...not the gun that really matters!
One more thing...do not, repeat DO NOT play once or twice and run out and get the most expensive gun ever. There is no better fodder on the field than some newbie with a $1200 gun. You lose the respect of many players right off the bat. Start with a cheaper marker, and work your way up if need be.
If you have a set of camoflauge, wear it. People don't wear it because it looks cool, they wear it because it works. If you don't just wear some old cloths that you don't mind getting dirty. The Darker the cloths, the better!
Also, many people will say "wear a pair of sneakers, or cleats". This is what I did for the first year or two playing, but after spraining my ankle around 3 or 4 times, I decided it was time for something more. If you have similar problems, invest some cash into a pair of Military boots. I love mine. You will have no fear of getting them dirty, walking through water and mud, and best of all, they have great ankle support! I have never even came close to spraining my ankle with these. My pair of boots is one made for a para-trooper/jumper, so they even have added support for the ankles. If you plan on playing rec-ball a lot...i strongly reccomend investing in a pair for yourself! |
