| This award will be available to advanced members. Although some of the skills will be covered during normal VC sessions a special training course will be required as well as extensive personal experience. A Junior Instructor candidate will hold the other available awards. Junior instructor training is available by invitation only. |
| JUNIOR INSTRUCTOR All of the other levels and adequate personal experience PLUS all of the following: Equipment: knowledge, care and proper use to be displayed q Traditional rock climbing equipment - types, uses and limitations q Basic snow and ice climbing gear - types, uses and limitations q Additional camping and hiking gear - types, uses and limitations Knots: tying and appropriate use q As for all other levels Skills: proper and disciplined performance to be displayed q As for all other levels q Set-up of group abseil and top-rope sites q Supervision of top-rope and sport lead climbing and abseiling q Seconding skills on multi-pitch traditional rock climbs q Group management skills q Rescue and emergency management skills q Performing of pick-off rescues q Use of ascenders, prussic loops, Petzl Shunt q Escaping the system - techniques and equipment q First Aid training |
