Venturing is an association of young adults
between the ages of 14 and 21 years of age. It is one of the core programs
of the Boy Scouts of America.
The young adults are called ventureres.
Older adults are known as advisers, consultants or committee members. There
are six areas of experience in the venturing program. They are citizenship,
leadership, service, social, fitness and outdoors. There is a recognition
program focused on youth ministry, arts and hobbies, sports, outdoors and
sea scouting. The awards are known as the bronze, gold, and silver. There
is special recognition in the outdoor and sea scouting programs known as
Ranger and Quartermaster, respectively.
Crew 136's specialty is outdoors with emphasis on backpacking and canoeing.
There are interests in career opportunities relating to the outdoors and
in environmental habitat.
The Crew has regular meetings on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at the Kleinpeter Activity Center in the St. Paul Room on the St. George Catholic
Church campus. Meeting times are from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. An outdoor
activity is planned monthly with Super Activities planned for the summer and
holiday breaks.
While the Crew is under the auspices of St. George and the Boy Scouts of
America, membership is open to the public.
