Richard Ramirez

Richard Ramirez struck pure terror into the Los Angeles area in 1984-85 with his Satan-motivated sex crime spree of rape and murder. The Texas native was eventually convicted of twelve murders and a few dozen lesser crimes, including rape and burglary.

Ramirez usually struck in the early morning hours in towns al around L.A., taking advantage of unlocked doors and windows, creeping inside homes to rape and sodomize women before killing them. Any men were normally dispatched of with a close-range gunshot to the head. Since Ramirez was a known child-abductor it was odd that he largely left any children present alone during his home invasions. Nevertheless, the man known as "The Night Stalker" in the media paralized countless people with fear and drove any self-defense related weapon sales through the roof. His brutality and habit of attacking several times in a matter of day, even hours, put enormous pressure on police to capture the man who seemed as if he could slip away like a ghost.

Because he had left several surviving victims, Ramirez was eventually identified in August of 1985 and his picture plastered on the front page of every paper in L.A. A manhunt ensued and soon ended when he was recognized and detained by a civilian mob in a suburb. Ramirez immediately began with his taunting, glowering attitude and his trial was a sideshow to his courtroom antics. The captured Serial Killer flashed a pentagram drawn on his palm, used his fingers to make mock horns on his forehead, and flirted with his substantial number of groupies.

Ramirez was sentenced to death , to which he responded "Big deal, death comes with the territory. See you in Disneyland." He currently resides on Death Row at California's San Quentin Prison.
