Established in 1956 as a unitary residential University to promote Sanskrit studies.A multi-faculty University offering courses in Science, Engineering, Arts and Languages, Humanities.

Recently introduced job-oriented courses in the fields of Biotechnology, Microbiology, Computer Science, Electronic Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, International Business, Tourism, Pharmacy etc.

Department of Computer Sc. & App.

This Department of Kurukshetra has been pioneer in imparting training & education in the field of Computer Science & Application. The Department labs are equipped with a wide range of modern hardware and software facilities for students training and for the research by the faculty members.Several different platforms and processing environment and the latest software are available.

A full- time computer software oriented Post-M.Sc Diploma course was introduced in the University from the academic year 1972-73, later in the year 1981, this University was the first in the country to start a U.G.C. supported one year M.C.A. programme. This was replaced by a two year M.C.A. programme form the academic year 1984-85, onwards. In December 1990, U.G.C. has sanctioned the proposed of Department of Computer Science & Applications to update the Two-Year M.C.A. programme to three Year M.C.A. programme under the U.G.C.-D.O.E. Joint Manpower Training Programme in Computer Science & Technology and the same was launched in the session 1991-92. The Department was also running One-Year post B.Sc. Diploma in Computer Science & Applications (D.C.A.) with effect from the session 1983-84, under the joint support of U.G.C.& D.O.E. the Department has also started two year M.Sc. (Computer Software) w.e.f. Academic session 1995-96, and M.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering three Semester full –time programme w.e.f. Academic session, 1996-97.

The Department organizes seminars, gust lectures and invites senior professionals /professors form Institutes of National and International repute to exchange their view through such interactions. These faculty members of the Department also extend their services to other Department of the University like Tourism, Economics, Chemistry & Commerce in order to meet their academic requirement in the field of Computer Science & Applications.

M.Tech (Computer Sc. & Engg.) – 4 Semester

Course covers:  Programming in C & C++, Data Structures, Computer Architecture, DBMS & Oracle, Operating Systems, OOPs, Software Engg., Data Comm.& Networks, Computer Graphics, Reliability, Compiler Design, AI & Expert Systems and one semester project.

Master of Computer Applications (M.C.A.) – 6 Sem.

Course covers: Programming in C & C++, Data Structures, Computer Architecture, Parallel Processing, System Analysis & Design, DBMS & Oracle, Operating Systems, System Simulation, OOPs, JAVA programming, Software Engg., Data Comm.& Networks, Computer Graphics, Reliability, Compiler Design, AI & Expert Systems, Microprocessors & Interfacing, WEB Engg., E-commerce, UNIX and one semester project.

M.Sc.(Computer Sc. Software)

 

Course covers:  Programming in C & C++, Discrete Mathematics, Computer Architecture & Parallel Processing, Computer Oriented Optimization, Advanced DBMS & Oracle, Operating Systems, System Simulation, OOPs, JAVA programming, Software Engg., Data Comm.& Networks, Computer Graphics, Compiler Design, AI & Expert Systems, Microprocessors & Interfacing, UNIX, Assembly programming and one semester project.
