Expatriate longing

by Victor P. Gendrano

One summer here in Redondo Beach, California, while watching the setting sun disappear in the horizon, an old expatriate suddenly felt a great longing to see once more the place where he was born and raised after an absence of more than thirty years.

Truly, home is where the heart is. No matter where one is now, the yearning is too strong to return to one's native land, especially when one senses that the end of life's journey is not far behind.
