Innocence lost

by Victor P. Gendrano

(Ah Memories! lurking in our subsconscious mind ready to surface
at a moment's notice on the promptings of a chance remark,
familiar face, or remembered events. Already, his mind was
fashioning choice words to describe the memories of that
summer of his coming of age, the beginning of the end of his
boyhood innocence).

Through dreamy eyes from that state
Of in-between waking and sleep
Venus-sprung, down she floated
Languorous smile etched on her lips
Fifteenth summer, on those steps
That early morn

Swooping spirit-like
A shaft of light took naughty peek
Through flimsy gown and sheer slip
Baring body with awkward grace
And hint of curves
Pleasure's promise yet unrevealed

Ah! Memories!
Treasured moments of hoarded bliss
Like gentle brush of budding breast
Sensuous sway of heaving hips
And wafting wisp of summer's sweat
Stirring loins from long lost sleep.

In my book RUSTLE OF BAMBOO LEAVES

but first published in Heritage magazine,
Vol I, No. 2, September 1987.
