Awit ng dayuhan - Migrants' song

Awit ng mga dayuhan

Victor P. Gendrano

Sa ngalan ng dolyar makapangyarihan
Nag-ibayong bansa at nagsapalaran
Dahilan sa kanyang lupang tinubuan
Wala raw maganda na kinabukasan.

(Kung saan mayroon na sariwang damo
Doon naaakit payat na kabayo).

Matibay ang loob, wagas ang hangarin
Sa tulong ng Diyos magtatagumpay rin
Yaon ang panata't hangad ng damdamin
Matibay na gabay anumang gawain.

(Kawikaan nila sa tao ang gawa
Patnubay at tulong gawad ni Bathala).

Mga kinagisnang ugali't kultura
Ini-isang tabi na pangsamantala
Kusang nakibagay kahit naiiba
Dapat magtagumpay iyan ang pagasa.

(Taong sumasayaw sa bagong tugtugin
Malao't madali'y matututuhan rin).

Ganito ang buhay mga Pilipino
Sa paninirahan sa lupang ibayo
Sa kanilang sipag, taal na talino
Ipinagkapuri ng tahanang bago.

(Sa wastong paggamit ng 'yong kakayahan
Ay magtatagumpay, kahit nasaan man).

Mamamayan tayo ng isang daigdig
Na walang hangganan bakod sa paligid
Kahit saang dako iyong mamamasid
Ang mga dayuhang ugali'y matuwid.

(Narito man sila sa malayong bansa
Pilipino pa rin sa puso at diwa.)

Migrants' song

(Author's translation)

In the name of almighty dollar
They go abroad and try their luck
Because in their native land
There's no rosy future.

(Where there is fresh green grass
A starving horse will go).

With courage and determination
They will succeed with God's help
These are their vows and wishes
That will serve them in any work.

(They say man provides labor
And from God help and guidance).

All their customs and traditions
Are temporarily set aside
To blend with the new culture
With their intent to succeed.

(He who dances to new music
Sooner or later he'll learn it).

These are the lives of Filipinos
Who chose to live in a foreign land
Their industriousness and talent
Are praised and commended.

(With the proper use of their skills
They will succeed just anywhere).

We are citizens of one world
Where there are no fences nor boundaries
You will find them everywhere
These migrants with moral goodness.

(Though they are here in a faraway land
Always Filipinos in their hearts and mind.)
