World series

by Victor P. Gendrano

Gone is the Bambino curse
as they vanquished dreaded Yankees.

Yet Boston Red Sox cannot rest
until they win the World Series.

But beware of fickle fate
I'ts not over, not over yet.

AND THEN

The improbable happened
as Boston Red Sox at last win.

They swept St. Louis Cardinals
to emerge World Series champions.

It was eighty-six years ago
when they were last crowned winners.
