Welcome to our pages for COLLECTIBLES, all those wonderful old books, post cards, fans, etc. You may also mew about reproductions of Victorian things if you collect those! WHERE did that doggie come from? *some humans even "collect" them*

Meows Jesse,

My meowmie has collected porcelain dolls for many years. She thinks they are very beautiful. She would love to have one like the one in the picture but they are very expensive and they must be kept far away from me because I would love to play with them too. Meowmie likes the ones dressed in Victorian costumes best however she has many that are babies or small children. Collecting dolls was a favorite pastime in the Victorian era.

Our Meowmie collects old penny postcards from the turn of
the 19th century. Her grandmother Edith Gray and her great-
aunt Edna had collected them. Edna collected several thousand
postcards which are in the custody of our Meowmie's second
cousin.

Our Meowmie also collects reproduction valentines. Her
Meowmie had been given a collection of old valentines from
her Meowmie when she got married.

The Name That Launched a Million Bottles

By Lloyd

A lot of us like to collect old medicine bottles. Lydia Pinkham's medicine bottles are widely collected today. Lydia Pinkham in 1890 started the first patent medicines. One of her medicines that is still on today's market is...Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound. It was first marketed in 1875, and the "female complaint" nostrum was widely advertised in the backs of newspapers and women's magazines. The ads played on female pain and suffering and featured testimonials from women who claimed to have been healed from all manner of dysfunction and disease by the compound.

THE MAXIMS OF METHUSELAH,published in 1903.

Above are two pics of the sort our Meowmie collects of the
Victorian era in our own home town. They are painted by a
local artist, John Bell Jr.

The painting on the left shows the main street of our home
town circa 1896. A horse drawn carriage waits in front of the
LeFlore Hotel while a mule drawn car heads east. The mule
drawn cars were replaced by electric street cars in 1893.

The other painting shows a building constructed in 1899, and
later turned into a Coca-Cola Bottling Franchise. The first
Coca Cola produced was bottled in 1903.
