The Kids Are Alright
I must start off by saying we were lucky enough to get this movie tapped off a VH1 airing; many thanks to Jena for that. The movie, although it was about the Who as a band, starred Keith Moon as Roger said during one of the many interviews. Jumping from clips of early acts, including my favorite during a set on the Smothers Brothers show, and then on to many a interview with varying members of the band and sometimes the whole band. Crazy things are happening everywhere. They come so fast, it’s easy to miss them. That is what the replay button is for, my friend. Crazy antics to be seen… not a moment wasted. One such show, not to be missed, is the set on the Rolling Stones’ Circus where they perform “A Quick One”. Keep an eye out for the nose wipe toward the end of the song. John does his insane high vocals for that song, and actually keeping them on track quite nicely. He comes in when Roger and Pete fail to do so. Keith, putting on quite a show in the back and singing along like only a Keith could. Then there is the footage of them recording in the studio, especially during “Who Are You”. Antics to be seen there as well. Aside from the destroying of instruments, clothing, frightening many interviewers, and some pretty awesome footage of a pretty kick ass band… this movie is granted a Creepy Crawly of 4 and ½. It’s pretty damn alright… like the kids.
