The Old Black Shawl

The following items were made from an old fringed shawl that was for the most part sound, though had a few holes here and there and bits of missing fringe. First, I carefully laundered the piece; soaked it in a bit of blueing to harmonize the color then laid flat to dry. When completely dry I cut away the damaged areas, removed the fringe and cut the rest into usable pieces, pressing them flat. The fringe was saved to add to dolls' shawls (see example below). This left a fair bit of nice vintage wool that worked for a variety of eras. All of these items have been sold.
