His other roles include Count Almaviva in "Il Barbiere di Siviglia", Alfred in "Die Fledermaus", Nanki-Poo in "The Mikado", Fenton in "The Merry Wives of Windsor", Il Podesta in "La Finta Giardiniera", the Ballad Singer in "Of Mice and Men" and Tonio in "The Daughter of the Regiment", appearing with companies such as Glimmerglass Opera, Sarasota Opera, Regina Opera, Delaware Valley Opera, Nevada Opera Studio, Inwood Opera, The Brevard Music Center, Mannes College of Music Opera Theatre and Little Theatre of the Rockies.
In 1998, Mr. Bartels made his solo Carnegie Hall debut, appearing in Mozart's "Vesperae de Dominica K.321", and returning to sing Mozart's "Coronation Mass K. 317." He sang the role of Uriel in Haydn's "The Creation" under the baton of the late Robert Shaw in 1994. His other oratorio roles include Nicholas in Britten's "St. Nicholas", the Roasting Swan in Orff's "Carmina Burana", the tenor solos in Bach's "St. John Passion", Handel's "The Messiah", Honneger's "Le Roi David", Bach's "Magnificat" and Dubois' "Seven Last Words of Christ".
Mr. Bartels received his Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Northern Colorado and his Master of Music in Vocal Performance from Florida State University.
