J.R.R. TOLKIEN
Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky,
Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone,
Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die,
One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.
One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.
There is no doubt
in any educated and learned person as to whether J. R. R. Tolkien is the
Father of fantasy fiction. He has to be one of my favourite authors, along
with Marion Zimmer Bradley, Umberto Eco, and various others.
Of the cycle of the Lord of the Rings, my favourite is the Silmarillion.
Maybe some don’t count it as a LOTR book, but it has sooo much in it. I
think I like it most because it is remenescent of times past. However much
I like the LOTR cycle, my favourite of J.R.R. Tolkien’s writings is the
short story, Leaf by Niggle. I love it.. it’s an amazing story of
life and death and fortune.
