Sift together 3 cups flour, soda, sugar, salt, cinammon, and nutmeg. Cube the apples and chop the pecans. Grease and flour a 9-inch tube cake pan. Beat 2 eggs well and slowly add 1 1/2 cups cooking oil. Blend in half the flour mixture. Add the cooking sherry (or other). Blend in the balance of flour. The batter will be heavy. Stir in the chopped apples and nuts and mix well. Pour into tube cake pan. Bake at 300 degrees preheated oven for 90 minutes until done.
