Vienna Community Leader of the Month

Community leaders in GeoCities Vienna do a lot of work. They visit homesteads to ensure that Vienna is rated "PG" and to offer assistance to homesteaders in making their online homes as pleasing to the eye as possible. They answer homesteaders' questions, because they know what it is like to be someone who has no idea what HTML is. They initiate programs to instill a feeling of "community" in Vienna.

Some community leaders go above and beyond their duties. That is why we initiated the Vienna Community Leader of the Month Program, to recognize the hard work and dedication of the community leaders that make Vienna the best it can be.

Margaret
Strasse/2943
Calgary, Alberta, Canada resident Margaret Leong brings a treasure trove of graphics and musical knowledge to the position of Vienna community leader. A dedicated helper, she is tireless in her efforts to bring about solutions to any homesteader problem. A busy wife and mother of two, she still finds time to teach music, keep her multi-award-winning site updated regularly, design professional-looking graphics, and be ready to attend a host of online activities through the Vienna Residents Club. Always ready to help and to offer suggestions, you can read more about Marg in her February 2000 zineterview.

Florian
Opera/4151
Since becoming a community leader in March 1999, Florian Keller has managed to practically take over everything Austrian about Vienna, and then some. His experience and depth of knowledge of his homeland (Salzburg, Austria) have been an invaluable addition to Vienna Online, for which he is now the Austrian Editor. Readers look forward to his "Austrian Insights" column, especially. "The Entertaining Salzburger," as he is known professionally, is an active supporter of GeoCities Vienna and its citizens, taking very seriously his role as a leader and assistant to any homesteader (or leader) who comes to him for help. Read more about him in the December Zineterview.

Ashlee
Choir/8485
November's VCL of the Month is Australian Ashlee Betteridge, known to her online friends as cldancing_in_the_wind. Active in ballet and in band as a flautist, she also spends a lot of her time making herself available to homesteaders who need help. A veteran leader at 15, she has been involved with GeoCities and the CL program since she was 11. She lives with her parents and her younger brother and younger sister, as well as a pet rabbit named Marshmallow and a "gorgeous" dog called Wilbur. (Catch up on the rest of Ashlee's life down under in the May 1999 Zineterview.)

Robert
Strasse/7000
Our October VCL of the Month is Robert Farley, who, at 45, is one of our most senior leaders. A native of Ohio, he is currently residing in Hawaii, where his beautiful wife, Debbie, is an officer in the U.S. Army. At various times in his life, Robert has played guitar, violin, mandolin, keyboards, bass, and drums in local garage and bar bands, and has worked in such jobs as handyman, golf pro shop attendant, and newspaper editor. He now spends his days working part-time in the office a large farming concern and his afternoons either geeking out on the computer or on the golf course. His goal is to be able to be good enough to play on the Senior Tour in 2004. A member of GeoCities since September 1997, Robert is the editor of Vienna Online and a liaison.

Klassiks
Strasse/7645
Our May Vienna Community Leader of the Month is monikered Keith K. Klassiks. A resident of Singapore, he will be 16 on the 17th of June, 1999. A leader for Vienna Strasse 7500-7999, he is also active as the associate editor of Vienna Online, the chairperson of the Strauss Centenary pages, most of which he singlehandedly put together, and is a frequent poster in Vienna and CL forums. Keith became a member of GeoCities in 1998, and a leader soon after. His dedication and technical expertise, along with his constant support of Vienna contests, awards, and projects, make him a valued member of the volunteer community leaders in Vienna.

Musakmaster
Strasse/5005
Musakmaster has been a VCL since March 1998, and was a CL known as Googlyeyes in Silicon Valley for a time, as well as a CL known as Deckard in SouthBeach. He is also a mentor in both SouthBeach and Vienna, a SouthBeach Teens Team member, Vienna Awards chair, Vienna Forum and Chat Monitor, GeoCities Romance & People, Entertainment, and Comp & Tech Chat areas administrator and mentor. A resident of Melbourne, Australia, Benedict Chiu has played piano since the age of four and the trumpet since 13. He also likes sports, such as basketball, baseball, tennis, and cricket. Besides being an accomplished musician, Ben is fluent in reading and speaking Chinese.
