Ariana's personal history began at birth, when she was born to Gary and
Darielle Richards in the Sonoma Valley area of California. Although she didn't
yet know it, her charm, beauty, and talent would soon make her famous. Seeing
her extraordinary ability to make people laugh and cry, her parents brought her
to a commercial audition which she landed hands down. The result was
electrifying. At the tender age of seven, she was being offered numerous film and television roles,
in each of which she delivered nothing less than an
awe-inspiring performance. Many of these movies, more notably "The Incident",
in which she starred as the grand-daughter of Walter Matthau, are what
immediately caught the attention of Steven Spielberg.

In his rendition of "Jurassic Park", the bestselling movie-to-be, he needed
a versatile young girl who could really make his dinosaurs come alive. Ariana
would be in competition with many of the most popular female child-actors for
the part, but in truth Spielberg knew who he wanted right from the start.
Terror was a primary factor in the film, and after seeing her screen test, the
choice was obvious. Jurassic Park proved 13 year-old Ariana Richards was a
dynamic, vibrant, and incredibly vivacious actress. Needless to say, her
performance was acclaimed and the movie rocketed to the record books. After
that, many things changed...

Many had doubts on her ability to act, considering the fact she was entering
adolescence, a time when most child stars become ignored and thrown into the
shadows of yesteryear. She used her age to her advantage, exhibiting a
newfound grace and maturity, while retaining her charm and innocence.

Aside from acting, she has shown herself to be a very multifaceted individual,
displaying interest and ability in singing, music, dancing, painting and
horseback riding. Being a lover of nature and a carer for animals, her
compassion has shined its light not only through her charitable activities,
but through the gift of art she gives to us with her sweet words,
magnificent work, and everlasting smile.
