Victorian Lady in Hoop-Skirt, 1860s

This photo gallery is about the reproduction of a complete
lady's toilette of the early 1860s.
It was created for a patriotic play to be performed in
Lima, Peru.
Note: the model IS NOT the actual actress.

The typical mid-Victorian bodice and the gored skirt are of purple sateen and the embellishment consists of Burgundy cotton braid, violet beads, peach machine lace, and little satin bows. Unseen, there is a light taffeta underskirt.
