ONE KISS

Abigail stared across the room at the handsome gambler as he started another hand of poker. She had been watching him all night... imagining those soft full lips on hers... those long, slender fingers caressing her skin... I can't stand anymore!

Moving swiftly across the saloon, she knocked the cards out of his hand and pulled him up against her.

"Abigail?" Ezra only had time to gasp out her name before her lips locked onto his, stealing his breath away with a searing kiss filled with passion and desire.

Turning back to the table, Ezra announced breathlessly, "Gentlemen... I fold."

HELPING A FRIEND

Vin watched Buck sneak up the stairs that lead to the second floor of the saloon.

Nathan joined the tracker just as Buck disappeared down the hallway. "He finally gonna do it?"

"Yup... got tired of listenin' to 'im moanin' an' groanin'."

"Hope he don't shoot 'em... I'm runnin' low on bandages."

All was quiet, then suddenly a door slammed and a blood-curdling scream echoed through the saloon. Buck came racing down the stairs with Ezra hot on his heels. Grinning as he ran past, Buck held up a bloody tooth still attached to a length of string. "Got it!"

THE FEVER

Ezra had remained in the grip of a horrible fever for days. His friends took turns tending to him... gently wiping his face with a cool cloth, holding his hand when his dreams became too frightening and real, and begging him not to leave.

But his eyes remained closed and he spoke not a word.

Late on the third night, Chris gave the command he knew would never fail to bring Ezra back. "Don't you dare run out on me, Standish."

Ezra's eyes slowly drifted open and his grip tightened on Chris's hand. "I wouldn't think of it, Mr. Larabee."

CAUGHT - A Mini-Drabble

Buck and Vin met in front of the jail. "Find 'im?"

"Nope."

A soft jingle of spurs drifted through the jail window. "I'll get Larabee, you get Nathan."

Buck and Nathan entered the jail and found Chris tied to the chair. Nathan walked over, forced Chris's head back, and finally pulled the tooth. "Big baby."
