Maestro Ilayaraaja's website About Me...
Welcome to my home page. I’m Vignesh Subramanian, nick named ‘Vicky’ by my friends. Born in Chennai, Southern India I was brought up in a lovely place called Melagaram, located in the foothills of Western Ghats, 4 KMs away from the famous Courtallam. Nature was a big inspiration to me as I grew up in a BharathiRaaja type of village. I had the opportunity to learn carnatic classical violin under shri Subramanian Aasari from Ilanji for 2 years, which developed in me a great interest for music. After my Schooling I went on to do my Engineering in ‘Coimbatore Institue of Technology’, which I would rate as one of the finest experiences in my life. We had (and still have) a wonderful music troupe there and we used to play in all college functions, win all inter college competitions and even were good enough to play in few public events like marriage receptions and earn a few pocket money sufficient enough for 'one by two' tea-s for a group of 20 people every day. The atmosphere there was so vibrant that even someone with just the interest and spirit can get molded into a fine artist amidst other talented peers.. Raaja’s song were the food for our musical thoughts and we’ve played almost every great hit of him on stage, thou it demanded day and night of hard work & Practice. Its here that I learned and started playing Keyboards. When I think about it now, still that’s a wonderful period in my life!!! Its also here that I found Sushmita, the love of my life whom I eventually married.

Music is my passion; Traveling, and assorting albums (mostly of Raajas) are my hobbies.. Writing about Music, joins the list recently. Currently I'm working as a software test engineer in the Netherlands.

Thou’ college life got over, the musical hangover of Ilayaraaja stayed with me(till date) and that’s why you find so many babbles in this site… The articles that you find here are practical inferences of his music.  Theoretically there may either some flaws in my understanding or it may not seem right for someone to equate Cine-music to so much of  classicism. I shall be glad when the visitors can point out genuine discrepancies.  As in electronics they always say, ‘Negative feedback is healthy for controlled output’. Keep visiting this site as I'll add more articles whenever time permits. Please share your views on my thoughts. You can either
e-mail me or use the guest book. Wish you a pleasant reading.
