When trust is broken it goes through me,
Like a knife to the heart causing pain.
No resistance, just a cry within, reaching deaf ears.
For a split second your whole world freezes
It waits in silence.

You are pelted with feelings felt only by darkness,
Betrayal, you feel dead.
Like cups of boiling water tipped on your head
It burns through your skin, blisters the soul.

When you find yourself reaching deeper to find forgiveness,
You feel nothing but pain and heartache,
For that short time your path covered by harsh trees
Your heart beating the pulse of silent tears.

Only one thing hurts more than broken trust.
It's when the burns keep scorching
And when the trees keep falling
And when the knife has run too deep.
