Institute of Vivekananda Studies,
Ramakrishna Mission Vidyapith, Chennai, conducted a two-day workshop on
Swami Vivekananda - An Architect of Modern India on 25th
and 26th March 2006 at RKM Vivekananda College. Programme started with welcome
address by Dr V V Subramanian, Principal of the college and Presidential
address by Swami Satyapriyananda, Secretary, RKM Vidyapith.

Alumni
Day: 21st June 2006 was celebrated as Founding Day of the College
with an Almni Meet. Several old students of Vivekananda College attended the
meeting. Mr Shanmugam one of the first batch students of our college also attended
the meeting. DrV V Subramanian who is the President of Alumni association welcomed
the alumni. Swami Satyapriyananda, Sceretary of the college gave the benedictory
address.

by Ramakrishna Mission Vidyapith on July 1 2006 Commemorating the official inauguration

Cultural WEEK:- As
a part of the Diamond Jubilee Celebrations A drama
week has been organized. The Event was inaugurated by Srimat Swami
Gautamanandaji Maharaj on 10th August 2006 at NARADA GANA SABHA, Chennai.
Sri CHO RAMASWAMY was the chief guest. The drama week concluded on 13th August
2006.
PHYTOFEST 2006
- Students of the department of Plant Biology & Plant Biotechnology conducted
an one day inter-collegiate competition on 29th September 2006, in which students
from various city colleges participated and won prizes.

Special Staff Day:
As part of Diamond Jubilee celebrations a special staff day was held on 26th
August 2007 at the college. Pooja and Homam at 7 AM; Meeting started at 9
AM The programme included presentation of mementos to all staff members and
benediction by Swami Gautamanandji Maharaj followed by group photo and lunch.

SCIENCE CONFERENCE:
The study of pure sciences like Mathematics, Physics,Chemistry, Botany &
Zoology has contributed in a greatmeasure to the scientific advancement of
the nation.Of late the waning interest in the study of pure sciencesis a great
concern. In order to highlight the need of studying the pure sciences, the
college organized a "Science Conference"on September 7 & 8,
2007 for the Higher Secondary School students. The conference was designed
as "Bio -Science Day" (for Botany, Zoology & Bio - Chemistry)
and "Physical Science Day" (for Mathematics, Physics &Chemistry).
The conference was attended by more than 1000 students from various schools
