ALTERNATIVE KULTURE FASHION
Kulture> Some discussion/topics/tips on Alternative culture influences/FASHION.

I figured since upon request(which i think that's what he was asking for) and that there isn't much for Industrial fashion tips. Also, because the net lacks an abundance of Industrial/Rivethead fashion tips. Remember Industrial/Rivet fashion is not limited to a basic neon color with black, dreadfalls, big space/platform boots, etc. I admit, I'm not the best person to give off fashion tips, however through the years I've learned quite a few things. I developed my own style Rivet/Indus over the years without any help from the internet...so my style may or may not be included as Industrial. This information is not meant to rip off any other site with Industrial Fashion tips.

Here's a few @ an ever growing list of tips.

These following tips will go along with Alternaive subculture, more specifically Industrial/Rivethead culture. Basicially, Rivethead/Industrial kulture, does not revole around clothing as many Alt. Kultures such as that of yuppies, preps & pop punk do. Even though I'm all for not being limited to labels... you may find some of this information useful, of the Rivet Culture etc. The tips also have to do with what I wear and my experience.

[Grrrl Fashion]
[Makeup]------ Mascara- is a must. br It always perks up your eyes. This is especially true if you have light/blonde eyelashes. If you have really light lashes and or fair hair it's best to you a brown toned mascara.
-Eyeliner is so Industrial- Try not to pack too much on, unless you're going or that look. Too much tends to make you oerly Gothy(which isn't a bad thing, unless you want to appear Rivet).
-Eyeshadow- lite br hen using eyeshadow don't use way too much. Often times, as with myself, it makes you 1) appear to Goth, 2) look like a crack whore. Try usuing other colors as well. Light and dark gray, silver, purple, etc. Use to disgression if you have pale skin. Using green is liked by many Cyber Goths and *dreaded* Ravers. Just use for your preference and style, as well as what looks good on your skin tone. Lipstick vs Lipgloss- For the Rivet Kult it's said to be very anti black lipstick and more au natural with lipgloss. I'd say add some color to it as well. Blue, purple, dark reds, etc. Remember minimalism may be the key for you as well. Skin Tones-- make or break the makeup. Check out a skin tone chart. Also , also may want to use eyemakeup and other makeup accoriding to your eye and hair color.
-Nail polish blackNblue- Nail polish in black is basic Industrial. You may want to try colors according to your clothes hues etc. Colors such as; blue, purple, gray, silver, dark red, are commonly found. Try some army green.
-Good companies for Alternative Makeup Urban Decay, also check the net, and for those on a budget Wet-N-Wild.-
[Clothes]------ Basic Industrial girls wear tank tops/wife beaters, short sexy skirts-in plaid, vinyl/(p)leathr etc, army skirts, long and short, army fatigue/BDUs, army dresses, nurse and nun outfits, trenchcoats, leather jackets,bondage- like style leather/pleather and vinyl, dark long denim skirts(maybe even a lil grunged out),of course band t-shirts--no MM!, not limiting yourself to only black, try darrrk browns, greens, grays, ect, also, purples, blues, reds and others.
The cargo pants and other military clothes trend with women, seems to be almost over. This is good because now you can get a lot of cheap nice looking cargo at thift stores and on sale at department stores.
[Shoes]------ big boots/8 eye hold and bigger--knee high, clunky boots, spikey boots, strappy boots, stilleto boots, sneakers, maryjanes and maryjans with straps-ok, not really rivet but they're cute, pointy 80s boots/shoes,stilleto shoes, clunky high heels, 9 inch heels!, and mostly anything overly sexy/porn star-looking.
[Accessories]------ fishnets, stocking, fish nets and stocking on arms-this was a South Fla thing back in the day-, spikes are good(but too many make you appear Punk),dog collars/bondage collars, too much jewelry such as ankhs and silver make you look too Gothy!,computer parts and nails made into jewelry, check out Home Depo materials, chains, bondage chains and straps,glasses-for the computer nerrrd look, and much more.
[Body Mods]------ Piercings esp., are an Industrial thing. > Thanking Genesis P. Orridge(Coum Transmission/Throbbing Gristle) for being one of the fathers of modern day piercing popularity. Today, with piercings popularity, they are considered unique and sexy, not freakish. If you wanna go for the freakish look added to you Rivet style, go for multiple and or unusual piercing. Tattoos of course, also apply, as well as other body mods-branding scarring, etc. For females, sexy piercing work best-since they say sex is power). I got my Monroe/Beauty mark done, It looks sexy. Although, belly button piercing may be too Pop star/culture for you. Tattoos are also common in this culture. Some designs that are fitting are cyber, tribal and Giger.

Remeber freakz, Originality is great- get creative! These are just some tips and ideas to get you started, expended.

[Guy Fashion]
[Makeup]------ For guys, unless you're into minimalism...check out the females guide and or: The use of eyeliner on guys is great/sexy. You may want to use mascara as well, especially if you have or want great looking eyes(see Grrrl's mascara for tips) -Other-
Lipstick such as gray, blue and siler are a good option. Nailpolish colors to fit you may include black, blue, silver, green and gray. -Good companies for Alternative Makeup Urban Decay, also check the net, and for those on a budget Wet-N-Wild.-

-[Shoes]------ big knee high boots/8 eye and over. Also seen on Industrial guys: sneakers. Boots with buckles, spikes, clunky heels- for great stomping-. Accessories: fishnets, stocking, fish nets and stocking on arms-this was a South Fla thing back in the day-, spikes are good(but too many make you appear Punk),dog collars/bondage collars, too much jewelry such as ankhs and silver make you look too Gothy!,computer parts and nails made into jewelry, check out Home Depo materials, chains, bondage chains and straps,glasses-for the computer nerrrd look and much more.

[Last but not least-Hair-]
This topic which can apply for both males and females. Basic dyed black hair, long, crew cut or chin length. How about a shaved head(males and females). A shaved head with bangs in front, shaved on the side but not top or shaved on the sides but not in the middle. Pony falls, dreads, dreadfalls, extentions, are newly popularized as hair--with the use of plastic, yarn, real and fake colored hair, hoses etc-options are almost endless. Also hair dyed dark colors or maybe even bleached(see Gen of Genitortuerers). Big Skinny Puppy hair is hot. Also, males with long hair(fems too). Or even be natural--I use my natural hair color as a style-- or minimalist--short or bald--as above.
Mullets need not apply!

Also...
[Where to buy]
The internet is one of your best resources. Some even offer paymend methods without a credit card-which is always nice. Just do a Google.com search for rivet, rivetheads, rivetgrrrls, rivet clothes, industrial clothes , gothic clothes etc. For offline, check army/navy surplus stores, thift shops, outlet stores, alternative stores-if none in your area you'll be stuck with Gap Company's Hot Topic!, adult stores-good if you're looking for fetish clothes, sometimes even clothes/department stores will have good finds that aren't too colorful, trendy etc. In the last year('03) I found even some shirts with mesh sleeves and of course lots of military style jackets, skirts and pants. Thift shops will most always have that/those item/s that you wanted so bad but couldn't afford at the time. Or you could even make your own clothes with materials from Home Depot etc. On with hair, some salons now offer dred fall/extensions, even check beauty supply stores.

[For more tips]
check out, Industrial movies-such as The Matrix/Bladerunner/Brazil/Aliens, Industrial band members- check out what they wear, books such as Neuromancer and Industrial magazines, such as Industrial Nation and other Alt. Mags such as Propaganda. Even go primative, try something tribal.

Ok this is an ever growing list of style, keep checking back. I plan to give more details and possibly pictures.
Send me pictures if you'd like..
