Traister wins Christmas Tournament Championship
Tournament #2 of the VPBA's young career is now in the books as Russ Traister defeated Dustin Kifer 11-3 Sunday evening at Kifer Fieldhouse for the 2000 Christmas Tournament Championship.

Though Kifer was able to score the first point of the game, and have a deficit as small as 4-2, he was unable to stick with the tremendous display of volleypingball put on by Traister. A quick 6-0 run by Traister would put him up 10-2, and Traister would only give up one more point to Kifer en route to his first VPBA tournament title.

"I am so proud of my little Russy", said a very happy Sandy Traister (Russ' Mom & coach). "He played very fundamental volleypingball, and just did everything right tonight."

Many say it was Sandy's words to Russ during a Kifer time-out at the 4-2 mark that led him to victory. "I just told him that I put some deer bologna in the backseat of his car to take out to Ohio with him. I never knew I would get results like that from a speech so simple."

Russ Traister was unavailable for comment due to a call from president-elect George W. Bush inviting him to the White House.

"Russ just played great", said a dejected Kifer after his defeat. "Things just weren't clicking tonight [for me]. I made some early mistakes and let him open up an insurmountable lead. Even Big Jim (with cord, of course) was pulling for me, but I couldn't come through for him. But I have to thank everyone for coming tonight, thanks to Coach MJ for putting up with my terrible play, and finally thanks to Jeff Morrow from the Weather Channel for always bringing the nation accurate and dependable weather forecasts when its needed most."

"I'm gonna fail my Chemistry mid-term!!", was Mary Jane's response to Dustin's loss. "I really should go home and study. Anyways, I feel this was not a fair game since Russ did not have to worry about studying while Dustin had mid-terms running through his mind, not to mention me. But he did handled the loss very well."

Josh Meeker was also unavailable for comment and not in attendance due to the composition of mid-terms for his classes.

No future tournaments have been scheduled for the VPBA at this time, but if there are any, it will be on here. Once again, thats all from Kifer Fieldhouse, and may everyone enjoy their volleypingball.
