2. WELCOME SPEECH

Dr. Seetharam Gowda ,President of VPA-EAST welcomed the Members gathered at the Fall 99 Get-Together function on behalf of all VPA-EAST members. He expressed his appreciation to all the committee members for taking initiative and working hard to make this function in Baltimore Washington Area. Dr. Channe Gowda, Vice President of VPA-EAST introduced and welcomed the chief guest of honor Dr. Siddaveere Gowda, the first Vokkaliga member of Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) of the Gov. of India.

3. CHIEF GUEST ' S SPEECH

Dr. Siddaveere Gowda started his speech by acknowledging the meaning of VPA-Anthem written by poet laureate Dr KUVEMPU the first Vokkaliga Rashtrakavi. Then he explained the meaning of " Elliyoo Nilladiru, Mananeya nendhu kattadhiru" to our youths - the future Vokkaliga generation. He also stressed that we should make it a point that anyone having the background in farming should become a member of the organization. He stressed the need of our involvement in the development of future India. He also pointed out that we will be successful if we get our children involved to have better understanding of our heritage.

4. CULTURAL EVENTS

Anupama Gowda, Secretary of VPA-EAST was the master of ceremony for the cultural events. Dr.D.S. Karki's Hachevu Kannadadha Deepa the group song involving all the small children attended was one of the highlight. The children carrying a Deepa (candle) and walking inside as the song was sung to show that we will upheld our kannada heritage, where ever we are and where ever we go. There were lot of cultural events that night, Song ' s, Folk song ' s, Mono acting etc, please take a look at the brochure. Bhangra Dance performed by our youths and coordinated by Smitha Gowda was another grand highlight which shows our youth involvement in the cultural events.

5. VOTE OF THANKS

Shankar Chakkere, Joint Secretary of VPA-EAST and Srinivas Gowda, Treasurer of VPA-EAST thanked all who participated here this evening, and made the occasion possible. Srinivas Gowda thanked Dr Madhu and Veena Gowda for sponsoring the Dinner on occasion of their child Jathin's birth. They thanked the group involved in preparing tonight's snack and dinner

They thanked the people who entertained the audience that evening. They also appreciated Ms. Meena Gowda and Dr. Y.K Ramaiah for their generous Donations. Sreenivas Gowda thanked everyone who made this function successful by sending the registration fee on time and supporting VPA-EAST. He also stated that "This is your party and you made it successful " and he encouraged everyone to become life members.
Dr. Siddaveere Gowda distributed the certificates to honor the children who participated in the cultural activities.

6. DINNER AND DANCE

The cultural events were adjourned at 7 P.M. to join delicious dinner. DJ (D.J Express) was another attraction after the dinner. Children and Adults joined and danced together till 10 P.M

8. SPECIAL THANKS
