Adams, Beth  (posted March 1, 2005)
My name was Beth Adams back then, I was not at South High for my junior year but did all other years there.  I graduated in ’70.   I was pretty shy, so I did not travel in particular circles.  I was probably the tallest female senior at 5’11”, I had very long dark brown hair, thin and pretty J.  Connie Bagnall was my best friend in 7th and 8th grade, maybe you remember her.  Janet Briganti was another good friend.  Later years, my closest friends went to Central and North Highs.  I remember a lot of names, but I don’t remember yours either.  I live in north Texas now…Warmly, Beth

Backerman, Bob  (posted May 1, 2005)
Its been a long time since I've lived in the New York area.  After going to college in Boston and graduate school in western Massachusetts, I have settled in Boulder, Colorado, home to the infamous Colorado Buffalo football team.  I'm not connected with the University or any of its scandals.  While I was a math and science nerd in school, I switched to psychology in college and never looked back. I've been working as a psychotherapist, with a long term specialty of evaluations and mediation with divorcing parents. I enjoy my work and feel fortunate to have had a career that has not grown tiring.
I have been with Carolyn for twenty five years after meeting her playing volleyball, which I recently retired from after twenty-five years.  My body just couldn't take the pounding anymore.  Carolyn had two children who were five and eight years old when I met her. They are now full fledged adults, but unmarried and no grandchildren yet.
I'm very glad to have grown up in the time and place I did. I don't envy young people having to negotiate their adolescence through todays more challenging atmosphere.  I haven't kept up with anyone from our class, with the exception of a few emails in recent years.  I hope to make it to the reunion and will work on remembering as many of you as I can.  If any of you live in or are visiting the Denver-Boulder area, please let me know.

Beck, Karen  (posted March 28, 2005)
Here is some info - probably more information than you need. I am not including a photo because I have never taken a decent photo in my life. My name since August 17, 1974 is Karen Beck Langweber. I married Matt (whom I started dating when we were seniors) Langweber. Matt went to Lynbrook High and we met through USY. We have 2 fantastic kids; Jennifer who will be 25 and is now living in San Francisco and Richard who is 20 and a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. I graduated from Hofstra in 1974 with my masters in Speech Pathology. After practicing for 9 years with the NY Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities we moved to NJ to raise our family. I worked part time and then started my own gift basket company. Our family relocated to Wayland, Massachusetts in 1990 and then to San Marino, California for 18 months. In 1996 we moved back to Wayland were we are today.
I am currently working for Jewish Community Housing for the Elderly which provides independent living, low income housing for elders. This place is amazing, as it is non-denominational with a majority of the people being from Russia (Jewish and non Jewish) and Chinese. I work in the fund development office and am responsible for the major annual fundraiser and an 8 million dollar capital campaign. Both Matt and I are very fortunate to have all of our parents still living and relatively healthy.
