At Mitchell's Steve mentioned how he wanted to drink water from the "tiny water fountains." Once he saw one, it was too good to resist. He had Norma walk back a few steps to take a picture of him at the fountain. Just as he was about to step up and take a drink, a student cut in front of him and decided to wet her whistle. Maybe she was trying to avoid being in class, but she took that opportunity to drink from the fountain for a very long time. She watched the water come out of the faucet in a perfect arc. And she put her fingers in it to make sure it was the right temperature. And she put her entire head into it, so the water hit the right side of her face and she caught it with the corner of her mouth as it dripped down. The rest of our group was already going into the first grade rooms and Steve asked, meaning to hurry the young lady along, if he could drink. Completely unflapped, the little girl said, "Of course... as soon as I'm done!" |
