Who are Atlas & Vulcana? They are in fact my great, great grandparents who were famous for weightlifting in the early part of the last century. Atlas and Vulcana (1890-late 1920s) Were the King and Queen of Athletes. Miriam Kate Williams (1875-1946), the Champion Lady Athlete of the World met William Hedley Roberts (1864-1946) Society Athlete at the lady's gymnasium he had established in Abergavenny, South Wales.
