Jaymee Ong ¤ý²Q¬ü¡@

Things were so promising for her, until she thought she could strike it big
in the States, with a crappy cameo in Xzhibit's video, she is far from making
it big a la Denise Keller. This is the tale of Jaymee...

Jaymee Ong (Wong Suk Mei)

Name : Jaymee Ong
Date of Birth : 21-11-1979
Height : 5"7
Measurements : 34"25"35"
Nationality : Chinese - Australian

First there was Michelle Saram, who shot to fame in a TV ad for
pagers with superstar Aaron Kwok. Then came Lee-Ann, who scored in
a mobile phone ad campaign with Leon Lai. Now, the latest local model
to get international attention is gorgeous Jaymee Ong, undoubtedly
one of the hottest girls on the scene.

Already a veteran cover girl in Singapore, this Australian born
19-year-old caught the soulful eyes of Aaron Kwok when he saw her
in a fashion spread in the August issue of CLEO. So enthralled was
he that the Heavenly King not only decided to use her in his music
video, he also got her into a lucrative Pepsi ad campaign. "I was
doing a shoot for CLEO when I found out about the job with Aaron Kwok.
I didn't know who he was until Sally (CLEO's fashion editor) told me,"
says she. "He was never intimidating. He introduced himself and said
‘I saw your pictures in CLEO and got my manager to track you down.' We
talked for an hour about everything, from Australia, how he started,
his cars - he's into car."

Jaymee says, "It's not my biggest paycheque but he's definitely the
biggest star I've ever worked with."

It all started for her when she took her younger sister to get her
ears pierced at a hair salon in Australia when a famous photographer,
who worked at the salon, offered to take her picture. For a free
haircut, she agreed. Then the manager of a modelling agency in
Australia loved her pictures and put her on a cover - she was only 15.

Four years on, she's gone on to grace more covers in Hong Kong,
Taiwan, Malaysia, Bangkok and Singapore, earning more than most girls
her age - or indeed, any age.

Modelling wasn't the first thing this fiercely independent young
women tried, though. At 14, she worked as a waitress, then as a dental
nurse. At one time she was waitressing, modelling, and schooling. "I
was very proud of myself. I bought clothes and makeup with my first
paycheque. I love shopping!"

Shopping's not the only thing which gives her a buzz. She's
self-confessed workout maniac: "I exercise for two hours a day: 100
laps in the pool, 500 step-ups, power-walk, sit-ups, lift weights.
I've been known to come home at 3am and work out till 5am."

Jaymee's contemplating acting as well - all she needs now is the
right script and role; after all, she studied Drama and TV for nine
years. But she's not likely to be warbling up there with Aaron: "I'm
tone-deaf. The only time I sing is when I'm in my car … with the
windows down!"

From September 2004 Newman Mag:

Actress-model Jaymee Ong may be the East's best-kept secret, but not
for long — she's a foxy lady with Tinseltown dreams, so watch this space...

Australia has already given the world INXS, croc hunter Steve Irwin,
boomerangs and loads of other quirky-sounding amusements. But we'd like
to stake our own claim on one of Down Under's sexiest export, Jaymee Ong,
25—who we bet has inherited some of those lovely genes from her Singaporean
dad (in addition to her Australian mum). Also, despite having grown up in
Australia and lived in Los Angeles since she was 19, this actress-model has
not forgotten her Asian roots. "I get my friends to put their shoes outside
when they come over to my place!" she asserts, after declaring her love of
Asian food and culture. This Brisbanite's career began when she was approached
to do a hair show for a salon where she'd taken her sister to get her ears
pierced. A modelling agency then got hold of her photographs and she soon appeared
in advertisements across Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, and Malaysia.
Fortune again smiled on her when a photo in a magazine caught the eye of Hong
Kong Heavenly King Aaron Kwok, who featured her in his Pepsi commercials and a
music video. She then signed with Jackie Chan's management company, landing
parts in movies like Gen-X Cops and Rave Fever. But even Asia is not a big
enough expanse for this ambitious 1.7m stunner, who has foregone the easy
promise of fame in Hong Kong, for the uncertainties of Hollywood, where she's
already scored air-time in a blockbuster or two. While she loves acting, she
says that it is just a job."What I do is a source of entertainment for someone
for thirty to 90 minutes," she declares in an accent that suggests
Ozzie-meets-West Coast USA, "I don't see it as anything more". The very
opposite of diva, down-to-earth Jaymee has no qualms about picking you up
either. All you have to do to stand a chance: just respect a lady and don't
not take longer than her to get dressed! ...........
