One Last Drop of Life

CHAPTER 2

Ike was silently walking in the nearby park. It was really quiet around there. Isaac was just chilling and thinking; mostly about what was in store for them for the next few months. He needed a time off to prepare his mind for all that moving around everyday, those tricky interviews and sleepless nights. It might sound like fun for somebody else but, for him, it was something he just had to deal with. Fame wasn't all it was cracked up to be.

Gone through the park, hearing the birds sing their love from the heart of tenderness, Isaac wandered in the streets of Tulsa. Sometimes waving hello to a friend, he'd smile and remember the old days. He was just looking for a song to sing. Maybe he'd find a meaning to it and associate it to his life. He hoped so.

Song to Sing by I/T/Z Hanson

Goodbye, four-leaf clovers
Hello, gone awry
Don't cry, the fight ain't over
Unless you let it pass you by

I'm lookin for a song to sing and
I'm lookin for a friend to borrow
I'm lookin for my radio
So I might find a heart to follow
I've never been just longing for your lovin
I've never been just wearin down to nothin
I've never been just lookin for a reason
So that maybe you'd be thinking of me

Oh oh oh oh
You'd be thinkin of me

All that I have found in reason
Is reason just to not believe
And all that you have left is treason
It's treason just to let it be
Oh oh oh
...
These blue yonder dreams and second-hand shoes
You're so far gone, that you're left to lose
And it's too late to go home all alone
You're the tar in that old cigar
And the worn out cable on a cable car and
You're too tired to admit you've got to choose
...
Oh oh oh
You'd be thinking of me.

Isaac entered a small coffee shop looking for a familiar face. He knew there would be no one he'd know at this time, this day, this place, but he still wanted someone to be there. After a moment, he sat at a table nearby the window. The sun was peaking through the glassy surface, reflecting into Ike's lonely eyes. He gently turned his head and cracked a smile...

Taylor came in the garage grinning like a psycho. Zac looked at him weird, not sure what to say.

"Uh, what are you so happy about?"

"Me? Nothing!"

"Right! Come on, tell me!"

"Awwww..alright..."

Taylor was examining his keaboard, but couldn't concentrate. His mind was on he had just done. He was pretty proud of himself for what he had thought of. It felt good.

"What song do we play first Zaccy?"

"UGH! Don't call me that!...Ike left this Lonely song. Maybe we could try that..."

"Okay, but can we play something we already know first just to practice?"

"Sure, yeah. Good idea."

-------------- Isaac had invited her to his table. Since his eyes had crossed hers, everything seemed different. She made the room sparckle and glimmer. She was just so incredible. Her name was Sabrina. She and him had been talking for a few hours. She was in Tulsa for the week-end to see her family and was flying back to Ohio, where she was going to college, on Monday. Isaac was in awe of her. She was just so sweet. She was the only girl he had met that didn't realize and care that he was Isaac Hanson. She was being herself and treating him like she'd treat anyone else. He liked her.

He walked her to her parents' house at around 7 in the evening.

" I had a good time this afternoon Isaac. You're a really nice guy. I'm glad I met you."

"I had a nice time also. Too bad I'm leaving tonight...you think we could do this again sometime?"

"Yeah, that'd be fun"

He smiled. She looked at him for a moment and gave him a gentle kiss before she said goodbye and entered the house.

Isaac arrived home a little later. He was surprised when he didn't hear a simple noise. It was weird. Usually, there would be music and people runnung around and everything. But there was nothing. He went to the kitchen and, as he was getting water, he heard someone clear his throat. Isaac turned around frightened.

"Oh shit! I thought I was alone! You scared me! How come nobody else is around?"

No one answered. Ike was waiting for somebody to talk but he spoke,

" What? What's the matter? Guys?"

"Where have you been dude?"
said Tay in an ironic tone.

" Ike, I don't give a fuck what you did, but I can't believe you're THAT late! You're being such an ass! You know we're leaving tonight and we were supposed to be at the restaurant as a whole family. Now, you're 2 hours late! I'm so darn proud of you Ike!"

Isaac was speechless. Never in his life had he heard his brother talk to him that way. He knew something was wrong besides the fact that he was late but he couldn't tell what. Zac got up still fuming and left. Isaac was just looking at tay and back to the door.

"Uh, Tay?"

Taylor got up with this look on his face and walked up to him.

" Um, I don't know what got into him. Dude, I'm sorry. I didn't know he'd give you so much shit. I didn't even know he had it in him!"

"Ok, I thought I was the only one here who didn't understand the situation."

"You don't have to tell me but where were you?"

"Oh, that's alright. Man, you gotta sit down here with me. I ahve to tell you what happened!"

"Oh, I can see something good came out of all this! Ikey?"

"Sure did! See, I went to the coffee shop and..."
