One Last Drop of Life

CHAPTER 3

Later that night, Isaac was packing his stuff in his bedroom still thinking of how Zac had acted. He hadn't spoken to him all night and Ike knew he had to do something before it'd get outta hand. As he folded his last sweater, Zac came in looking miserable. He took a breath and spoke,
"Ike, can I talk to you for a minute?"
"Yeah, sure Zac. Aren't you mad at me though?"
"Exactly why I came here. Ok, I know you must have had a good reason to be late because usually, you're always on time. And, I wanted to apologize for the load of crap I dumped on you. I got my anger out on you and I'm sorry."
" That's okay Zac. I understand."
"The thing is, we're leaving tonight and I'm gonna miss everyone so much. In a way, I got mad at you for that; like it was your fault. I'm scared of life Ike... Don't you feel it too? Isn't hard to go on sometimes?"
"Yeah, little bro, I know how you feel. We're all gonna miss mom and dad but it's something we have to do with. I know sometimes it gets crazy and it's hard to keep going but that's our life...that's us now. You know, you can always come talk to me if there's anything wrong ok? I'm here for you."
Zac shed a tear, happy to see that Isaac cared about him. He loved his brother so much.
"Thanks Ike. That really means a lot to me." He sniffed.
"Well, you better get your stuff in the van, we're leaving in half an hour."
"Ok, talk to you later."

Taylor was packing the last of his stuff into the van when the rest of the family came out of the house. "Ready everyone? Let's go!" Hanson were now sitting in the car, either reading, writing or trying to sleep. But they al had something in common. They were all nostalgic. Whether they were thinking of the last tour, The Albertane Tour, or just the few days they had just spent home, it felt like so long ago and they didn't want to admit it. It was hard to look foward to what was coming because they were only thinking of the past. They knew they would miss their family more than before because it had been a while since they had been just the three of them. Life would just be different.

______________

Taylor and Zac were looking out the window. The huge building was standing the other side of the street. From there, they could see tons of planes fly in every direction. Walker parked the van and eveybody got out. No one was talking. I guess they were all too emotional.

They were now walking in the hallways, actually, trying to get though because there was a ton of girls around screaming. Somebody had said something and now practically every teenage girl on the planet was at the airport, waiting for Hanson. Taylor, Zac and Ike didn't mind. They didn't even have time to realize and go "Wow, that's a lot of people!" because their minds were on something else. Oh, they could hear the screaming alright! Who wouldn't? But it was like they weren't there. They finally got through the crowd, with the help of security guards and headed towards door #4.

Hanson couldn't believe their eyes. All their friends had come to say good-bye to them. They were all there waving hello and smiling when Hanson turned the corner of the hallway. There was Krista, Joanie, Eliane, Alley, Lindsay, Brian, Jacob... Isaac patted Brian on the back and they started talking about how they'd miss each other and of how much Brian had to come along on the tour with Ike. Zachary and Taylor gave big hugs to their best friends. They were going to miss them a whole lot. Joanie and Krista had been their best friends for as long as they could remember. They always had fun together. Tay and Zac hoped they would come to a couple of shows and hang with them for a few days. After a while, when Hanson had hugged evryone and told them how much they had to come, they waved good-bye and walked to the front desk.

Isaac was the first one to hand in his ticket. He hugged his mother and father and gave Mackenzie a high five before he made his way into the plane. Taylor was next. He didn't know what to say. Looking for his words, he managed to make a logical sentence.
"Mom, Dad, kidos, I'm gonna miss you!"
"We're going to miss you too Taylor. Take care or yourself and your brothers." His mother smiled.
"Ok, I will mom! Bye! Love you!"

Zac was standing in front of the counter holding his ticket very tightly, not speaking a word. The lady on the other side gave him a look and practically ripped the ticket out of Zac's hands. Zac turned around with that look on his face. He hugged his mother and started to cry.
"You'll come Mom, won't you?"
"Of course son, Remember, wherever you are, I'll always be with you. Have fun okay? I love you!"
Zac smiled and wipped the tears off his face. He waved as he entered the hallway leading to the plane and heard his sister Avery speak to him.
"Bye Zaccy Boy!"
